I got the reference to the Gingerbread Man only on the second read...somehow wasn't expecting nursery allusions from Merriam.
But that, of course, made the piece. Which brings me back to the theme of accessibility -- what would this poem mean to someone who doesn't know the tale?
Anyway, I'm glad I do know it; and I loved the poem.
