The body of the poem is vivid and has very nice economy of language. Yet by declaring its message so directly in the last two lines, it reduces itself to something less than it could be.

I'm really impressed that someone of non-finnish background has in interest towards the Kalevala. Keep on reading it!

Wow! This Poem says it all. Relationship between mother and daughter is really caught in those few lines. I've read the Kalevala in it's native language. I must say, that even though the structure and the measure of the original language doesn't really translate, it's never the less powerful stuff to read.
