I enjoyed Beatty's "War Is for the Hard of Hearing" immensely. Its message was delivered like an acrobatic songbird, and I enjoyed the way it pokes fun at a certain maniac -- who has always promoted wars that he would have others fight. I'm looking forward to the day when soldiers and civilians are deaf to the ranting and the raving of little Napoleons.

Wow, that's beautiful. Gentle and lovely and true.
Thank you.

You can find more of Greg's work in our archives, including several articles and reviews and one other poem. You can also view a partial bibliography of Greg's published work in the past couple years -- he's astonishingly prolific -- on the Campbell-eligible authors site. For more info, see Greg's website.

I think "War Is for the Hard of Hearing" is Beatty's best, so far. I found his other poem in SH rather prosy in comparison. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Thanks for the kind words. Sadly, Andy is right: my poetry can be prosy at times. Comes from writing too much non-fiction and not trusting myself enough. ;-)
But I'm glad y'all liked the poem. Greg

I really like this one, too. Greg, did you intend for there to be an echo of stuff like "In Flanders Fields"?
