Very cool. An exotic atmosphere that's a cross between John Le Carre's spy novels and William Gibson's cyberpunk. I'm looking forward to part 2.

Alas, I didn't like the ending. There was enormous potential here: very imaginative, descriptive writing, both about Southeast Asia and the SF ideas. But the main character's motivation at the end didn't make sense to me. Tastes vary, of course, and the author and the editors evidently liked the ending.

I liked the end. Surprisingly, it is a very realistic ending.
These words "it was a mainly a matter of show" might need proofreading.
