Fantastic story. Love the way the story layers fatherly concern, confrontation with a god, and the daughter's encounter with the river...

I found this to be a fascinating story. Being a native of Texas (East, not West) I still remember the gread drought of the 1950s and the recent one we just suffered through. Sounds like the capriciousness of a River God, doesn't it.
