I quite liked this story. Lots of tension and the ending scenes were terrific. I forgot I was reading, which is amazing. The only thing that I found slightly jarring was the Lord's name. I wished it was just Lord Drake.

I enjoyed this story quite a bit. I liked that it was almost devoid of magic, and read almost more like historical fiction than fantasy. I had a problem, however, with understanding one of the key points of dialog in the story. I have been discussing this story with some friends on my blog, if you want to see what I mean: http://www.benjaminrose.com/blogs/noesis/.
