This was a fine story, with a very interesting narrative structure, and a great final image.

I liked the yearning within the story. I am not sure if is Goddess yearning for motherhood having witnessed the birth of Christ (even though motherhood would need mortalness) or possibly Author yearning for Godnesshood and other realms.

I dont think catholic monastries were ever illegal on Iona, though they were orginally Celtic Church not Roman, and this 'illegality' seems a strange detail anyway.

The writing confered a dreamy quality of timelessness, and I liked the house with 3 doors development of the older house of 4 doors theme.

I found the final dream portion slightly confusing however as it is unclear, but quite critical to plot, whether dreamer was Godess or Authors alter-ego.

The slightly anecdotal style worked well for a story of this length.

Just to clarify: yes, the Catholic nunnery that was on Iona was outlawed during the Protestant Reformation, according to the information provided to tourists who visit Iona.
