I liked the ebb and flow of the tale very much, and will remember the tale for some time. I particularly liked the shift of genders, and had to reread part of the story to see where it happened.

However I felt the narrative was weak in having no explicable internal logic that made the longevity/near imortality a great gift in fighting terrorism or abuse of power.

Even more incongruous was the statement that the despite an apparently sucessful life, the protagonist would never have children in case they had the same longevity. As nothing in the tale indicated a life to be avoided I can only presume some unfinished section or a hidden concern of the author, and this felt again like a tale half told.

Still it's made me think a bit!
