I would say, it does matter what the real Sitha would make of the story, but it also matters what readers make of the fact that there is a real Sitha. If this element of the tale provokes a dissonance in the reader, it must surely carry over to other aspects of the story. If we feel that the Sith of the tale is so greatly at variance with the history, then what must we feel of the ghosts and the histories they reveal, and their reaction to Sith?
Even if the author protests that his tale is false, we must feel that it is in some way true, in order to find meaning in it. In this one, the pervasive taint of falseness overwhelmed the whole.
