Very entertaining article! Funny, I read American Gods with the kind of enjoyment-killing critical eye that you describe in the first part of the article. It was OK, but not OK enough to do right by its excellent (and maybe too ambitious?) premise. I wonder if Anansi Boys is better or if it just happened to hit you right.
I guess I should just go and read it.
