Interesting article especially as a metal fan.
Some lengthier discussion regarding Zeppelin might be warranted as they are one of, if not the, first bands I know of to include references to Tolkien's work.
Some mention of (sub)genres that are related, at least tangentially, to Tolkien influenced metal include: battle metal (see Turisas), folk metal (Korpiklaani), and viking metal (Amon Amarth).
Any chance of a more broadly focused article about music and sci-fi/fantasy? It would be especially interesting in something about Space Rock or perhaps Lovecraft/horror themed music (Lordi, Metallica, Darkest of the Hillside Thickets) might make for an interesting article.
