And so the blogging of Hugo shortlists begins. On the short stories, from most to least enthusiastic: Charles Tan, Justin at Staffer's Musings, Nicholas Whyte, Ian Sales (the latter of whom is also deeply unhappy to see Leviathan Wakes on the novel ballot, for reasons described in a review here).

Having slogged through the stories (and, despite their short length, it was a slog), I can safely say that 'The Cartographer Wasps And The Anarchist Bees' by E Lily Yu is the only one that I would recommend anyone read, let alone actually vote for.
