The Tall Walkers
By Marge Simon, illustration by Marge Simon
16 August 2004
Thin & long
as moonlit shadows
you discover
them at the brink
of a sad dream
when a scythe
of morning sunlight
pushes them away
they're still there
moving back & forth
on the smooth shaded wall
where only you
see their forms
you know you can
make them jump
if you want
with practice
you can have them
do more
pull something
from the room to
where they are
a box of tissues? yes!
a night stand? yes!
what next?
